其中国家公费师范生，有明确规定，在工作后半年经考核合格，可以申请免试攻读硕士研究生学位，专业均为教育学硕士，方向为本科专业方向，不存在选择其他学科方向的问题。
这样，可以从理论和实践上进一步发展自己所学专业，对以后教学还是有很大好处的。
同理，哪一类师范生，选择进一步发展自己本专业，都将会促进今后发展。
而对自费师范生，考研时选择其他专业，尤其是与本专业相关专业或互补专业，则可以扩大自己知识面，从思维上也更有利于职业发展。
但前提是避免选择跨度比较大的专业。
