Effective April 20th, 2009: If you are a citizen of a country that requires an authorized visa to enter Costa Rica, you are no longer required to apply for the visa, if you hold the following:
* A valid tourist, crew member or business visa issued by the U.S., Canada, or any country from the European Union stamped in your passport. The visa expiration date must be greater than three months from the arrival date into Costa Rica.
OR
* A permanent residence card (green card), student visa (F1, J1), work visa (H1B, G4, etc.), or refugee status in the United States, and/or in any country member of the European Union or Canada, valid for a minimum of 6 months. Residency extensions stamped on passports are not accepted.
