Regulations for non-local students:
Teaching Levels
Beginners – Initiation to the Portuguese Language (60 instruction hours, from Monday to Friday, mornings only). This level is only for students who never learned Portuguese.
Basic – Written and oral expression, grammar and conversation (60 instruction hours, from Monday to Friday, mornings only).
Intermediate – Development of written and oral expression, grammar, conversation and introduction to the culture of lusophone countries (60 instruction hours, from Monday to Friday, mornings only).
Advanced – Improvement of written and oral expression, grammar, conversation and culture of lusophone countries (60 instruction hours, from Monday to Friday, mornings only).
For all the levels the course will also include several activities held outside the class schedule.
Timetable
Lessons of language and culture: from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 to 12:30h
Activities “dance and painting”: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 15:00h to 17:00h
Cinema: days 9 and 16, from 16:00 to 18:00h
Visits to the museums: days 4, 11 and 18, from 15:00h to 17:00h
evaluation
Course Work – 60%
Final exam – 40%.
Students, who will succeed, will receive a Certification at the end of the course.
Attendance
Students who are absent from the lessons for more than 15 hours, will not be entitled to receive the course diploma.
Accommodation
Students who are not from Macau will be accommodated in the Hostel of the University of Macau , in Taipa Island , in double rooms.
If there are any students who wish to pay for accommodation in individual rooms, they will be able to do so providing that there are individual rooms available.

Cancellation Policy
If a student decides to give up attending the course, the enrolment fee will not be reimbursed.
1. As soon as we receive all the applications, we will decide the number of candidates to admit from each university. Such decision will be transmitted immediately to the universities. The universities will decide who are the candidates accepted and will inform us accordingly.
2. We cannot offer any support for air-tickets or other traveling expenses.
3. We are not responsible for health care expenses during the course.
4. Students will not be accepted if they arrive after the 4th of July 2012. There will be no exceptions to this rule. Candidates, who are unsure of being able to arrive by this date, should not apply.
5. If for reasons beyond our control (calamities, epidemics, etc., as occurred in 2009 with the H1N1 influenza epidemic), the Summer Course should need to be cancelled, the University of Macau will not assume responsibility for any resulting damages or expenses (air travel or other) on the part of the candidates.
6. Candidates admitted to the Summer Course are advised to take out both travel insurance and health insurance policies.
