1945年8月生于海南乐东。1968年毕业于中山大学化学系,后在四川江油3022信箱(隶属原冶金工业部)从事冶金分析工作近十年。1981年在中国科技大学近代化学系分析化学专业研究生毕业并获理学硕士学位,后留校在分析化学专业任教。曾以访问学者身份在美国(Ames国家实验室和IOWA州立大学)和瑞士（BASEL大学）分别工作过约三年和一年。1990年起，历任中国科技大学近代化学系、化学物理系副主任，应用化学系主任，中国科技大学副秘书长、秘书长等职。曾任中国科学院计算机化学开放实验室学术委员会委员，科大总公司副董事长。现任《计算机与应用化学》杂志编委。出版有《化学因子分析》、《神经网络及其在化学中的应用》等编译著。
