SIMATIC NET是西门子的通信软件，它包含CP 5613、CP1613、CPP1616等通信卡的驱动程序。如果没有安装SIMATIC NET，WinCC与Siemens S7-300/400、S7-1200/1500的通信可能会无法建立。
因此，在WinCC服务器或WinCC的单站这种需要与西门子PLC进行通信的系统当中，在安装WinCC之前，先安装WinCC交付组件中的SIMATIC NET。
如果是CS结构中的客户端，因为客户端不需要与西门子PLC直接通信，所以可以不用安装SIMATIC NET软件。
