turn SVM off in BIOS
- cannot use vmware workstation anymore
- if wsl is enabled but svm is on, windows cannot be activated.
enable WSL
- in cmd
- dism /online /get-features /format:table
- dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:[Microsoft-Windows-Subsystem-Linux AND VirtualMachinePlatform]
- dism /online /disable-feature /featurename:[Microsoft-Windows-Subsystem-Linux AND VirtualMachinePlatform]
- in powershell
- Get-WindowsOptionalFeature
- Enable-WindowsOptionalFeature
- Disable-WindowsOptionalFeature
- in GUI
- Control Panel → Programs and Features → Turn Windows features on or off
restart computer
step 4- wsl --set-default-version 2
- wsl --list --online
- wsl --list --verbose
- wsl --install -d Ubuntu
- wsl --set-default Ubuntu
- wsl [-u root OR --user root]
wsl --unregister
