英国雷丁大学的历史可以追溯到1892年，直至1926年皇家授权成为正式的综合大学，雷丁大学已然凭借其独特的教学风格和严谨的教学团队，成为英国著名大学，在英国乃至世界赢得一定声誉。雷丁大学是国际知名学府，位于世界前200强且是英国前20名的注重研究的大学。包括农业与食品，教师培训，艺术和设计在内的多个专业位居英国前十位，是一流领军大学。根据RAE2008年评估，雷丁大学大约90%的研究专业都是世界杰出（international standing）。
