Blâmer / blame
“Blâmer” 和 “blame” 在外貌上有个明显的区别：法语的 “blâmer” 里有个 “小帽子” (accent circonflexe) !
“小帽子” 往往意味着有个 “隐藏” 的字母 “-S”，例如：bête (beast), côte (coast), forêt (forest), fête (festival), hôpital (hospital)，maître (master), pâte (pastry), etc.
原来，“blâmer”和“blame”这一对同源词的共同“祖先”是拉丁词“blasphemare”（revile, reproach）——辱骂，斥责。再往前追溯，拉丁词的源头是希腊词“blasphemos”，意为 "evil-speaking，blasphemy"（亵渎神灵），后果很严重啦！

Il a rejeté la responsabilité de lafaillite sur son frère.
他把破产的责任都推到他弟弟身上。
They blamed the early frost for the bad harvest.
Ils ont attribué leur mauvaise récolte aux gelées précoces.
他们将欠收的原因归于早霜冻。
Whenever there is an accident at that crossroads they blame the local authority.
Chaque fois qu’il y a un accident à ce carrefour, ils incriminent /mettent en cause les autorités locales.

另外，还要注意：英语的 “blame” 在 “责备，责怪” 这一意义上，往往用于疑问句和否定句，或用在一些固定短语中。

Il a quitté sa femme et je le comprends.
