other the other的用法是什么

other一般用作形容词,主要是“另外的,其他的,别的”的意思,不能单独使用,如应该说other people,other place等。
而the other可作形容词,如the other way,the other people等,the other有两个中的“另一个”的意思,表示(两个中的)另一个,或其余的人或物,通常后面会加one,确指另一个。如：
Hold it in this hand,not the other。用这只手握着,不要用那只手。
one or the other 这一个或另一个
One took a taxi,and the other walked home。
一个人打车回家,另一个人则步行回家。
Give me the other one; not this one。给我那一个,不是这一个。
但当“另一个”的来源不清楚时,则通常用“another”或"another one"表示 ,如:
This glass is broken。Get me another (one)。这个杯子坏了,给我另拿一个来。(在剩余许多杯子中的一个)
另外还有others、the others的区别：
others是代词,前面没有定冠词时,指不定的“其它[他]的事物或人(复数)”,如:
We must think of others。我们必须多为别人着想。
others和some对比使用时,是“有些”的意思而不是做“其他”讲,如:Some cleaned the windows,others mopped the floor。有的擦窗户,有的擦地板。
the others是“其余的”意思,表示在一个范围内的其他全部,如:
This dictionary is better than the others。这本字典比别的都好。
After her departure the others resumed the discussion。
她走之后,其余的人继续讨论。
