1、both表示“两者都”,both后面的名词要用复数,谓语动词用复数,both一般放在行为动词前,be动词、情态动词或助动词后。例：Both children are good at English。 这两个孩子英文都很棒。2、eithereither表示“两者中的任何一个”,做定语时,either后面的名词要用单数,谓语动词用单数。例：There are trees on either side of the street。 = There are trees on both sides of the street。 那条马路的两旁都有树。3、each,every1、 each用来指两个或两个以上的人或物中的一个,every则指三个或三个以上的人或物中的一个。2、 each侧重于个体、个性,而every是侧重全体、整体、共性。例：Each child will find his own personal road to success。 每个小孩都会找到各自的成功之路。 We want every child to succeed。 我们希望每个小孩个个都成功。3、 every不能单独做主语,也就是说它后面必须跟着名词,如果要与of连用,则必须用every one；而each则都可以。例：Each of us has a bag。 我们每人有个书包。Every one of us knows the new。 我们每个人都知道这个消息。4、other1)the other表示两个中的一个,常与one连用,变为one…the other…,意思是“一个……,另一个……”。而one…another…则用于三个或三个以上。例：I have two pencils。 One is red and the other is blue。 我有两支铅笔,一支是红的,另一支是蓝的。 The old man’s sons are all abroad。 One is in America, another is in England。 And the third is in France。 这位老人的儿子都在国外。一个在美国,一个在英国,另一个在法国。2)other+名词=others,表示“其他的”；the other +名词=the others,特指某一范围内的“其他的（人或物）”,可译为“其余的”,相当于the rest。例：Some people are listening to the radio,others (=other people) are watching TV。一些人在听广播,一些人在看电视。There are thirty students in our class。 Twenty are girls。 The other students（=the others）are boys。我们班有三十个学生,二十名女孩,其余的都是男孩。
