Why are the americans fascinated with guns?

Not many americans want a new law to control the ownership of guns,especially hand gunsthere are more than three members and they have friends with influence in Congressthey also have strong support from the gun manufacturesmany americansthemselves wouldn't like to give up theri guns。they think it's their right as freemen to own a gun。It was written into the Constitution in1970!Is what I have said above enough for the topic?
