Is it a good idea to change the DNA of the food we eat?Hello,everybody!Since 1983,scientists have been able to change plants more quickly by changing their genetic material(遗传物质)。Foods from plants grown in this way are called genetically modified foods(转基因食品),or GM foods。From my point of view there are some benefits of genetically modified food。First of all,I want to focus on the lack of food。We all know that in the past year,the people living on our earth faced a serious problem which is caused by the shortage of food。Today there are 6 billion people on the earth。By the year 2050 there may be 12。5 billion。This is a lot of people to feed。We need more food。So if the production of GM food had been improving,it would have been more comfortable for the people on the earth。secondly,it is well-known to us that there has been much pesticide sprayed onto the crops,which is doing a lot of harm to our health。Instead,if we begin to grow the GM crops,the pesticide we have to have would be down,even off。Now,please permit me to state my last opinion。By growing the GM food,we can also cut down the production cost,and lower the selling price of the food。But,some disadvantages of genetically modified food can’t be ignored。GM plants are not natural。No one knows how good or bad they are。Making GM foods is only one way of feeding people in 2050。There are strong feelings against them,because they are unnatural。They may feed people,then hurt them or their children later。Therefore,we had better not eat GM foods if we can choose natural food。When we need produce more food to eat,we can choose change the DNA of the food。
