Should government control population growth?what are the pros and cons of these measures?It is always a controversial issue of whether the government should take measures to control population growth,and different people may have different views。Those who support the government intervention in family planning argued that it is part of the government’s responsibility to keep the population at an appropriate size。If the government does nothing,the population may expand quickly,which will leads to catastrophic consequences。An over-populated planet may find insufficient food to feed the people。However,many others believe that the family planning is the last thing that a government should do。Whether to have children or how many children to have,as they argued,is a totally personal and family decision,and it is also an important human right that should not be subjected to any mandatory governmental instruction。In my view,I believe the government should have an overall planning to address population growth or decline,but it is certainly not right to take extreme measures,forced abortion for instance,to control the population。If possible,the government can always take incentive,instead of punitive,measures to control the population。For instance,the government should provide more financial aid and support for families with only one child when the population is growing too quickly; and in turn,the government could launch campaigns to encourage marriage and baby-birth when the population is in decline。
