So, the topic I'm going to discuss today is "Why learning English is important?” First of all, let's take a look at a few countries that use English as a second language, for instance, Malaysia and Japan。 All students in these countries have to take English classes, just like they have to learn Mandarin, Malaysian and Japanese。 This shows how much their education stresses the importance of the English language。 In fact, most other countries in the world have the same point of view。 This is also the reason why English is useful tool for traveling。 Last year a friend of mine went to Japan, and since she doesn't speak Japanese, she had to communicate with the native people in English。 From the above instance we know, English is very important when you're in another country, and don't know how to speak their native language。 Well , we live Shanghai’s New District 。 the development and opening of Shanghai’s New District has become the symbol of china’s reform and opening , and a focus of world attention in the 1900’s 。 There are many foreigners coming form different countries in this New District 。 If you want to have good influence on them , you should speak English fluently , if you can 。 However , if your English is very poor , then you certainly can not do it easily 。 Even your appearance may reflect on the appearance of the whole people。 So being a modern person , all of us should have a good everyday English 。 Let's take a recreational viewpoint。 Things like books, magazines, TV, and radio programs have already become a part of many people's daily life。 Many people enjoy reading, watching and listening to English books, TV shows and talk shows, and I of course am no exception。 For example, I'm quite interested in reading William Shakespeare's famous novel "Romeo and Juliet”。 I never thought that English could be used so beautifully without making it a poem。 And you know , now Harry Potter is very popular with our class 。 Certainly , I like Harry Potter , too 。 I know there is much interesting information about it on the net。 Maybe you have gone to the homepages about Harry Potter 。 They are the official websites。 Harry Potter on the internet 。 There are many interesting games and stories in it 。 but it’s in English 。 You know I am not good at English , so I can’t understand these games well 。 I can’t play the games well , either 。 because the introductions are also written in English ,I can’t understand them , either 。 Think how poor I am !
