CHINA BOY怎么样

I just read this book one week ago。At first,I was just intrigued by the title of the book,thinking it might be fun to read something in English but written by some Chinese。Yes,I think I made a good decision。The book is fantastic。From the start,the boy was struggling to survive in a what-I-call violent culture in 1950s America。It was dark,suffocating and full of uncertainties。Then,the author goes back with his mom and sisters to his root,China。By narrating how their family managed to escape from the turmoils of the war,I got a full sense of the courageous spirit of those people who were risking their lives to better thir future。As they reach the new land,everything became a new challenge to the whole family。Even though they are Chinese in blood,they accepted the new culture readily,even with some discomforts。The boy only spent the first few year of his life with his monther,who tragically died from breast cancer。Later,The boy's father married a white woman from the east coast of America,which was deemed as a hope for the whole family to ease their way to the American mainstream society。Indeed,this new step-mother is very much different from his Chinese mom。The boy was asked to stay outside the house until the time to have dinner。However,being outside means to fight,a big challenge to the small boy。With struggle and friendship with some coaches from the YCMA,the boy grew stronger。More importantly,he was going through the process to identify himself with his adopted community。What a relief,he finally succeeded。
