名词、代词、动名词、疑问词+不定式、宾语从句。owing to可以和due to换用，但在句中多作状语，也可作表语。例句：He was out of work owing to a physical injury，他因为受伤而失业了。
Owing to的用法一、“复合介词owing to +宾语”作“由于……”解，表示原因：
1. Owing to certain unforeseen circumstances, we failed to start yesterday. (原因状语)由于某些未能预见到的情况，我们昨天未能出发。
2. We decided not to go to Shanghai by air, owing to the change of weather. (原因状语)由于天气变化，我们决定不坐飞机去上海。
3. These errors are owing to sheer carelessness. (表语)这些错误纯系由于粗心而引起。
4. It is all owing to your help that we have succeeded. (强调原因状语)我们成功由于你们的帮助。
5. It was owing to these unforeseen difficulties that their plan did not succeed. (强调原因状语)正是由于这些未能预见的困难，他们的计划失败了。
注：owing to的介词短语一般是修饰全句的，故除了作表语或用于强调句型以外，多半用逗号和主句隔开。
二、由owing to the fact that引出原因状语从句：
Her plan failed owing to the fact that she lacked experience.她的计划失败是因为缺少经验。(owing to the fact that 还可用due to the fact that代之。)
