There were many people at the station. Some were waiting for the train, some were reading newspapers, and some were saying good-bye to their friends or families.
Mary, Jane and Alice were talking so happily that they didn’t know their train was going to leave. At that time the guard called loudly, “The train is leaving. Please hurry.” The three girls heard the guard and two of them jumped onto the train quickly before the train moved. One was left behind. It was Mary. She looked very sad. The guard came up to her and said, “Don’t feel sad. The next train will come in ten minutes.”
“I know.” Mary answered, “But it was my train. My friends only came here to say good-bye to me.”
